On Monday, June 2, 2025, an important meeting was held bringing together a number of department directors and aviation experts from the Ministry of Technical and Vocational Education, alongside prominent representatives from Emaar Libya Holding Company. This meeting took place within the framework of studying and discussing the proposal to establish the “Libyan Academy of Aviation Sciences,” as a strategic initiative between the public and private sectors. The aim is to found a specialized scientific institution according to the highest global standards and regulations adopted in this vital field.
This project comes amid the significant momentum currently witnessed in the country as part of a comprehensive plan for reconstruction and development. The pace of implementing infrastructure projects and modernizing vital sectors is accelerating, which imposes an urgent need to develop technical and vocational education systems, particularly in specialized fields such as aviation sciences, which constitute a fundamental pillar for any modern economy.
The discussions addressed the importance of this academy in filling the existing gap in aviation education and training systems within Libya, given the absence of specialized institutions despite the pressing need for qualified cadres in this sector that supports reconstruction and comprehensive development projects. It was also emphasized that the academy will play a pivotal role in knowledge transfer and localization of aviation sciences, contributing to preparing generations of professionals and technicians capable of competing locally and internationally.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to form a joint technical committee tasked with studying the technical aspects and training needs, as well as preparing a comprehensive economic feasibility study. This step aims to establish the scientific and practical foundations for founding the academy, enhancing the capabilities of the national aviation sector, and aligning with Libya’s aspirations for a bright future.
